The @karatefokus project was born with this name in April 2023, but the love and practice of sports karate photography came about following my kids in this exciting modality in 2017, photographing the team where they practiced and in some tournaments organized by the club.
In 2023, I realized that at a national level (Portugal) there was a need for someone to carry out this type of work in a professional manner and, with the purchase of professional equipment that allowed me to be able to do a quality job, I decided to move forward with a page in Instagram @karatefokus, which fortunately had an immediate acceptance by the Karate community: first at a national level, soon gaining around 400 followers and, at the end of April (after the Youth League A Coruña 2023), I started gaining followers all over the world, especially in Europe. At the moment I have around 15.000 followers spread across Portugal, Italy, France, Germany, Romania, Spain, Brazil, Indonesia, Türkiye, among others.
My goal is to be present in all the competitions at national level and in any possible ones at international level, with more incidence in the youth competitions (Youth Leagues WKF) because it is easier when I accompany "my athlete" from home on her trips to foreigner.
Purchasing better photography/video equipment in September 2023 was an important step to best meet the expectations of those who hire me. At the moment, I use two professional Nikon mirrorless camera´s, which allows the produced photos and videos to have the best possible quality.
